I first met Caitlyn at The Littleton Dance Academy where both of my daughters also study ballet. We had worked together once before and took some nice senior portraits at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colorado. When I talked to her about doing another photo shoot, I wanted to do some ballet portraits, but schedule it early in the year before the trees leafed out and the spring colors came in. The idea was to create a contrast between the youth of a ballet dancer and the bare, almost lifeless environment around her.
So we met again at Hudson Gardens, this time in mid-April. The weather was almost perfect with just enough light cloud cover to diffuse the sun and soften any shadows. Unfortunately the temperatures had dropped that morning and occasionally a strong breeze would kick up around us.
Caitlyn was up for the challenge though and wore her sweater as we walked, set up poses, and took some meter readings. In the end, we ended up a lot of great shots, and just in time too, because the next day it snowed, and continued to snow off and on for more than two weeks! Thanks for your help and patience, Caitlyn! As usual, it was a pleasure working with you.
